When speaking about her album ‘XXXX', Snezhana Reizen, a St.-Petersburg experimental musician, uses the epithet “two-hemispherical” that refers to the functional differentiation of the human brain, where the left hemisphere is responsible for analysis and logic, and the right one for imagination and intuition. Thus, the first - “left” - side of the cassette, where disciplined rhythms and thorny glitch reign, can serve as the acoustic equivalent for rational mental activity. On the second, the “right” side, dark industrial shamanism sets the tone, imposing a conversation about itself in categories of the fantastic. The integrity of the album is ensured not only and not so much by recurrunt and retracing sounds, as by its “trippy” nature. To change the metaphor, you can see that ‘XXXX‘ is arranged as a trip or a journey to the edge of night. On the way, the arrogant rider of consciousness plunges into sleep, drops the reins, and now the horse of the unconscious chooses its own path in a velvet emptiness. Wherever it steps, you always know where it will go. According to Reizen, the final track, which gave the name to the whole album, has an internal kinship to the slow-paced midnight raga Darbari. “Darbar” in Hindi and Urdu means “royal court”. The alchemical audience in the center of dream, who needs more explanation here?

Петербургский экспериментальный музыкант Снежана Рейзен в разговоре о своем альбоме XXXX использует эпитет «двуполушарный», отсылая к функциональной дифференциации полушарий человеческого мозга, в котором левое отвечает за анализ и логику, а правое – за воображение и интуицию. Таким образом, первая – «левая» – сторона кассеты, где распоряжаются дисциплинированные ритмы и колючий глитч, может служить акустическим эквивалентом рациональной мыслительной деятельности. На второй – «правой» – стороне тон задает темный индустриальный шаманизм, навязывающий разговор о себе в категориях фантастического. Цельность альбома обеспечивают не только и не столько сквозные, возвращающиеся звуки и решения, сколько его «триповый» характер. Если изменить метафору, можно увидеть, что XXXX устроен как путешествие на край ночи. В пути самонадеянный всадник сознания погружается в сон, роняет поводья, и вот уже лошадь бессознательного сама выбирает дорогу в бархатной пустоте. Куда бы она ни ступала, можно быть уверенным, куда она придет. По словам Рейзен, финальный и кульминационный трек, давший название альбому, имеет внутреннее родство с медленной «полуночной» рагой Дарбари. «Дарбар» на хинди и урду означает «королевский двор». Алхимическая аудиенция в центре сна – нужны ли здесь еще пояснения?
